He certainly did! Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, and was assassinated on April 4, 1968. He was 39 years old.

His birthday became a federal holiday in 1983 and finally, in all 50 , it was made a government holiday by 2000. ( Arizona did not formally recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a state holiday until a voter referendum in 1992.) It is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of January.

King was an American Baptist minister and activist who brought civil rights issues to the public during the civil rights movement starting in 1955 until his death in 1968. He was a strong Capricorn.

James Earl Ray was accused of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr, pleaded guilty to avoid the death sentence and Ray did eventually die in Nashville, Tennessee at age 70, but so much has been written about this alleged criminal. There always seems to be speculation about the violent or unexpected deaths of well-known individuals. Did it really happen the way we are told? Many times I think not.
